Engineering Science Across Disciplinary Boundaries: A Symposium in Honor of Eringen Medalist Subra Suresh

A special symposium entitled "Engineering Science across Disciplinary Boundaries" will be held at the SES Annual Meeting to honor this year's Eringen Medalist, Professor Subra Suresh of MIT. The Symposium will cover topics at the intersections of materials science, mechanics of damage and failure, bioengineering, cell and molecular biomechanics, and some broader issues in engineering education and research.

The symposium will be organized around several distinct focuses. The topics of focus include: (1) Nanomechanics of Engineered Materials, (2) Cell and Molecular Biomechanics, (3) Microstructural Effects on Mechanical Properties across Length Scales, and (4) Engineering Education and Global Research Alliances.

Invited speakers include many well-known scientists, engineers, and a few academic administrators. Our goal is to have presentations covering a wide range of topics relevant to Engineering Science and Engineering Education.

Planned number of sessions: 3-4

A celebration dinner will be held on Monday evening.
